Functions of Fats

  1. Energy/fuel for our muscles

  2. Help absorb nutrients aka fat-soluble vitamins

  3. Cushions our organs

  4. Hormone production

Types of Fats

  1. “Good” fats: Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated fats

  2. “Bad” fats: Saturated and Trans fats

Foods:

  • “Good”plant-based sources: olives, avocados, olive oil, chia/flaxseeds, nuts

  • “Bad” plant-based sources: Processed plant-based products like veggie burgers, coconut oil
