If so, I share some tips on this podcast episode to help you train and run your best while preventing injury.

  1. Prevent overtraining

1. Follow a training plan - follow what your training plan says to do, not more or less, it is best to work with a coach for more guidance if you need help to customize and make sure you are not overtraining (sometimes we need to be told to NOT run)

2. Add in cross training such as biking or swimming. It's less impact on your body and allows you to still work your heart, but gives your body a break.

3. Race less this summer - I know races are back!! But don't be too eager and sign up for too much then you can handle. Especially if you have a goal race this Fall. Keeping yourself healthy is the goal!

4. Take rest days - rest days are necessary and needed, they are part of the training process. Rest days are there for your body to recover. 5. Get 8+ hours of sleep - sleep is also part of your recovery Which of the above can you do better at this summer?

2. Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! Water is not enough!

3. Run in the early morning for long runs on hot summer days.
